A
TASTE OF GOOD MUSIC: Paul Lawler
CD Released 2004
Veteran singer/ songwriter Paul
Lawler is in fine form on this fascinating debut
CD.
A Taste of Good Music is the very
fitting title for a host of delectable songs,
all of which are recipes set to very singable
tunes in different folk styles. Although this
may all sound a little strange, this collection
of songs works very well.
I began to collect favourite
recipes from my friends and set them to music,
marrying each recipe with a musical style that
best fitted the feeling and flavour of the food,
Paul explains in the CD notes.
Backing vocals throughout this feast
are by the aptly named Just Desserts (Richenda
Bridge, Jenny Fitzgibbon and Carmel Givens). Richendas
haunting vocal accompaniment on Fillets of Sole
St Germain is a favourite.......this CD certainly
makes you want to try them! Paul Lawlers
versatility and vocal ability get the various
musical styles just right. The infectious and
tasteful backing vocals, the competent musicianship
and the spot on production make you wonder why
we have waited so long for Paul Lawlers
first CD. The title is right - this album is definitely
A Taste of Good Music. A sumptuous musical meal
from a fine singer/songwriter."
