POMEGRANATES
AND PEPPERCORN TREES: The Lonely Horse Band
CD Released 2006
Pomegranates and Peppercorn Trees
was an idea conceived at the 2006 Tamworth Country Music
Festival by Andrew Hull, Tonchi McIntosh
and Mick Daley. They quickly formed a loose collaboration
intent on developing more original music relevant to
the 'one horse towns' of Western New South wales. A
few beers later and the Lonely Horse Band was
formed. All three artists had an interest in the Nymagee
Outback Music Festival, where Tonchi had been given
a block of land, Daley's band The Re-Mains had been
born, and a lot of goodwill was invested by all three.
This community then become the focal point for the 'living
memory' project, some funding was provided through the
Country Arts Support Program and over three days the
trio wrote the songs and poems for the album. The writing
and recording process was captured by Andy Parks for
ABC Radio, who commissioned a seven part radio series
which went to air on Radio National and local radio
prior to the 2006 festival.
