SANDILANDS:
No Time To Get High
CD Released 2007
Sandilands' 3rd CD, this time recorded
live at the Lomond Hotel, home of their long-running
and legendary Sunday night residency..... travelling
a shimmering, timeless road!
"Melbourne string band Sandilands play back-porch
stuff. It's raw and uncomplicated, unapologetically
channelling the likes of Doc Boggs, Bline Lemon
jefferson and Roscoe Holcomb.
"There are songs that resonate,
gritty, dripping in Mississippi mud; others are
high and lonesome, dug-up from some Appalachian
graveyard. All though, have a very Australian
voice.
"All the songs were written
by singer-dobro player Mick Cameron, who
does a great job of hillbilly flat singing and
provides languid slide. Craig Woodward
(banjo, mandolin) and Jeremy Hanley (double
bass) drive the rhythm, with Aubrey Maher
(ukelele) and Tony Hargreaves (aacordion)
filling out the sound.
"Sandilands' live album is
a wonderful sound-bite of their loose, soulful
grooves, bayou stomps and ragged shuffles."
Greg Reilly, Sunday Herald Sun, 25 November
2007.
